We're pleased and proud to share these links to some kind words from a few our happy EB-3 users and industry professionals:
Hi Folks, The EB3 has arrived safe & sound & looks a lovely piece of equipment. I am very happy I chose your brand. Thank you for the excellent service & very prompt replies to my e-mails. I wish you the very best of luck for the future. Kindest regards, Alan
Gentlemen, I purchased, assembled, and tested your miter gauge this afternoon. Words are not enough to describe how pleased I am with your product. I studied all of the products available, looked at them, and then decided on your miter gauge. I am really thrilled with the cuts I made, and to your credit, they were spot on right out of the box with little or no adjustment. I wonder why anyone would choose any other miter gauge than yours. Again, my most sincere thanks and appreciation for the excellent product that you deliver. Best regards, R. Michael Reed
I've owned my EB-3 for some time now. I took a chance five or six years ago when I decided I loved my woodworking too much to continue to rely on an-original-equipment mitre gauge for any sense of accuracy. I say took a chance, because there were so many to choose from and it seemed like so many reviewers liked the other guys better. The EB-3 was indeed unique, but they questioned its accuracy considering the moving bars and supposed awkwardness of the design. I on the other hand (I'm a retired engineer) looked at your design and saw lots of promise. Moving mechanisms intrigue me and from what I read and the photographs I saw, I determined the EB-3 was worth it, so I ordered one. Took it out of the box and it's been working faultlessly since. It's truly a remarkably efficient, robust, and accurate mitre gauge. I've never regretted buying it and I even as I see newer mitres come along, I look, I read; I am not swayed by any of their hype.
I do watch Norm every week and I never fail to nudge my wife (she watches him too) and say, "You know, Norm could choose anything and the New Yankee Workshop program folks would buy it for him. He's been using the same mitre I use for many years now. Must say something about my good sense in tool purchases.) And almost without fail she says something to the effect, "But he builds things and gets them out of his shop in a half hour. I'm still waiting for my matching book cases." She's got me there. I try to remind her of all the elves he has off camera and the many many set-ups that take place when the camera isn't cranking. Doesn't matter.
My gauge looks exactly like Norm's right down to the "Oops! I can't believe I just cut off a quarter inch chunk of my new gauge." I painted my snub-nosed end bright red and I'm so very careful now. Thank you, B. Woznicki
I received my Excalibur EB-3 and just couldn't wait to use it. The miter gauge was easy to assemble and dead on accurate relative to the miter slot in my table saw. The construction is very solid and the workmanship is superb. When I first set the gauge up I checked all the angles and was concerned that the fence face was not perpendicular to the miter slot bar. I sent an email to Osborne's customer service late one night and had an answer by the next morning. This is impressive and courteous customer service. It turns out that the handle on my square was not square, the EB-3 was right on!
After checking the choices, it boiled down to the EB-3 or the Incra-2000/27. It appeared to be a toss up. I went with the EB-3 because of the sturdier looking construction, besides, Norm uses the EB-3.
I saw Norm Abram using this miter gage so I knew it had to be good. The New Yankee web site is where I found who made it. I now own one and and absolutely love it. Dead on right out of the box. It's so simple and I'm a firm believer in simple is always good. Thanks for providing a great quality product. - J. Shields
David, What can I say? Look at the picture. This is some 3/4" plywood scrap about 4" wide. I set the outside length to 10" and set the gauge for 45 degree miters. If I set them for an in-line matchup, I get a perfectly straight board! I have never been able to do this with my miter gauge. The miters are perfect, 2 perfect squares, i.e., inside and outside. there is nothing for me to adjust, now is there!? Thank you for an excellent product that works perfectly right out of the box. -Charles
Hi David, Well, it arrived this morning at 0750 – and I immediately went to the shop to try her out! (neighbors weren’t impressed, LOL) I must say, it’s a fantastic piece. Well done everyone at Osborne. Spot-on, straight out of the box. It is the best addition to my saw, ever. Best regards, Pete
Hi David, My new mitre gauge arrived a couple of weeks ago and frustratingly had to linger in it's packaging until Christmas! It was perfectly calibrated straight out of the box and seems really safe, bullet proof and easy to use. Congratulations on an excellent product. Cheers, M. Roberts
David: I just wanted to let you know I got the pin on Monday and went right in and installed it. The knob tightened right up. Then I just had to try it so I spent the next hour cutting scraps at different angles. THAT MITER GAUGE IS A WORK OF ART! Thanks a bunch! - B Martin
David, I just wanted to thank you again for your help in setting up my miter gauge. I had a chance to use it the other day. Fantastic! A terrific tool. Thanks again....Glenn
Hey David, I am so happy with my EB-3!! I assembled mine, and right out of the box it was dead on. I quickly proceeded to working on my current project, without hesitation. This tool is awesome!! Thank you so much!! -M Garcia
David, I am so happy with my EB-3 and I smile every time I think about it. I have been through three very expensive miter gauges that have never lived up to my . expectations. Put yours on and wham....everything is dead on accurate. I can't thank you enough. -Dennis
David, I can’t begin to tell you how much I appreciate this, or how impressed I am with your response! I had only hoped that I would be able to get the issue resolved when Scott sent me your reply, and now not only is it resolved, but I will have a brand new EB-3 to enjoy for years to come! As I stated originally, I was really excited when I first saw the EB-3 because of the sound principle of the triangulated design, and now I’m finally going to get a chance to enjoy one! I have several picture frames to make in the near future. My oldest son is getting married, my youngest is graduating from high school, and my wife and I want to make a 6 picture collage of their portraits for the wall above the piano. I will now be able to use the EB-3 to cut the material for the frames.
I am really excited about the prospect of using your gauge David! I will work with Scott to revamp his Epinion review once I’ve put my new gauge through its paces. I will mention your response and fantastic personal touch (again, I can’t believe that my new gauge will be here TOMORROW!), however I won’t mention that you sent me a new one so as to not start a landslide of other EB-3 requests on you.
Again David, I would like to express my deepest gratitude on your response to my problem. You have certainly proved to be a man of honor by standing by your word and wanting to correct this issue. Thank you for your time and action! Sincerely, T Pritchard
Hi! I just recieved my miter gauge. I had been "looking" on and off for 3 or 4 years and decided to go for it. I got on line @Amazon.com and started reading the tool reviews and noted the key reference as your gauge to be the one everyone uses as the standard but complained about the price. Then I saw your add and the sale price and figured if I was ever going to do it this was it. I was a tool designer @ Lockheed aircraft in the late 60's and I'll be the first to admit I'm well satisfied with my new tool. The design is perfect, the quality is great and I'm very happy to say the least- thank you for the tool I've been "looking"for! -H. Jarrels
Gentlemen: Been using your EB-3 for about three weeks. Was perfect right out of the box. Wish I had it years ago. Now I know why Norm Abrams uses it - makes life simple and very accurate. -B Manderville
Hi Dave, Thanks again for your support and returning my call. I can"t beleive how fast you shipped my order. You guys are #1 in my book. Other companies should model themselves after you. Look forward to doing business again with you! Thanks again, -J. Ottlinger
Hi. I just got the EB delivered to my house and it only took seconds to set it up and adjust it to miter slots and I Love it. I must have cut 25 angles and every one was right on the mark. Wow, it’s better than hot biscuits and butter. I know all my friends will want one when they see how well it works and what a great job it does. Thank you for making this great tool. -C Mertz
David, Just wanted to drop you a note about the EB3. I personally think it is the best new product that I have come in contact with. I usually design mechanical tooling, robotics, and such. Well to put it in a nut shell, the EB3 makes me look good. Thanks again. -Marty J.
THANK YOU DAVID. Now I am really sure I selected the right mitre guage (customer service WOW). Thanks again. -J Borner
David, Just a short note to express my thanks for the excellent service you provided. I recently purchased an EB-1 that was delivered by Fed Ex in a very damaged conditioned. I filed a claim with Fed Ex and then called your company. You then shipped out a replacement immediately and I received it yesterday. Not many companies would provide such excellent service in this day and age. Once again my thanks. At this time I have not heard from Fed Ex concerning the disposition of the damaged guide. I will hold until such time as I hear from you or Fed Ex. -R O Genest
David, I have been researching a new miter gauge for almost 6 months. I had looked at most of the ones on the market, including the incra line, and Dewalt's copy of the EB-3 (seperate review). Couldn't find anyone who had an osborne in stock, so with a little whining I convinced my local woodworker's store to order a couple in. . The problem began when the two units arrived at the store. All the people who work at this particular store are avid woodworkers in their own right. They assembled one of the miter gauges and gave it a try. It was perfect right out of the box. When I arrived several hours later to pick up my osborne miter gauge (they had told me when they would arrive), I had a hell of time prying one out of their hands. They have since ordered a dozen more, some for stock and some for employee's. I took home the one they had already assembled, as I planned on using it as soon as I got home. They had adjusted it to fit on the Jet supersaw..they had no slop and no rock. The face was 90 deg to the table and 90 deg to the blade. Since my saw is the Dewalt 746, I figured I would have some adjusting to do.... WRONG....it slid into my table saw with no adjusting at all. It slides beautifully, with no side to side slop at all. I have no rocking, scraping and have noticed no flexing. The face is 90 to the table and 90 to my saw blade. I checked everything I could check and couldn't find one problem. So of course I figured I was doing something wrong. Can't be this good right out of the box, so I rechecked everything with another set of squares, ran a couple of pieces of pine thru on the 90 setting, perfect, cut a couple 45's, perfect, then the ultimate, 22 1/2"s, perfect. The last test was to let the Shop Dog sniff it and even he approved. I've had it a week now, made 8 square frames, 6 octagon frames, and 21 corner shelves. The only problem I've had is where to put the gauge when I'm not using it. It does take up a good amount of space if you don't "fold it" for storage, and I am strapped for space.(My saw table is one of my main assembly areas).
I find myself reaching for the Osborne miter gauge instead of one of my sleds now. I would and have recommended this miter gauge to anyone who is looking for the ultimate upgrade in miter gauges. Its solid, well built and easy to use. "NUFF SAID"
UPDATE...I have been making a lot of traditional style jewelry boxes lately...Christmas ya know...with mitered corners and insert trays. Lot’s of repetitive cutting. I like to cut my box pieces from one piece of wood so the grain chases all around the box. I made an extra flip stop for my miter gauge so I could set two lengths on the gauge. Now I cut an end, flip the first stop up and cut the front, back to the first stop, cut...well you get the picture. The process is repeated when cutting the miters, get perfectly matched pieces every time. What a time and effort saver. I am going to try and order a second factory flip stop, as my homemade one is a little clunky. Still highly recommend this miter gauge.
ANOTHER UPDATE...Called to get a second flip stop, they said you have to copy down the part numbers...you'll need two of the plastic washers....and order it as parts. Your customer service is excellent and the parts totaled $12., including shipping. Someone there took the time to assemble the stop before shipping it...thats customer service! If you are like me and cut a lot of multiple lengths from the same piece of wood this is a valuable addition to your miter gauge, and inexpensive to boot. This whole thing just keeps getting better. -Krassel, Spanaway, WA
